Just not blogging enough!

I tell you, real life gets n the way of blogging and music!

Since last blog post, I've composed seeral tracks and posted them to SoundCloud, posted on Facebook for each new track, rearranged the studio, been consumed in shipping a new medical device, boght a new crock pot (lol) and re-re-re-re-ogranised everything.  Yow!

I took 3/24 and 3/27 off to relax and work in the studio.  I need a break, work has been 247 insanity during ship time.

Oh, and I'm selling my MID conroller and am buying a guitar to turn into a gguitar+MDI Controller.

After 15 years of lusting ater a Fender Modern Player Tele Plus, as soon as my paycheck shows up I'm ordering one.  But, the shop at Sweetwater will be doing some mods for me.

I'm replacing all 3 pickups with Seymour Duncan versions of the singe-coil Tee neck, Srat middle, and coil-tapped humbucker bridge.  I'm also getting the pickup switched replaced with a better one.  This is Phase 1.

Paycheck after this one, replace the soso tuning machines with Fender American Standard machines  This is Phase 2.

And finally, third paycheck in I buy the Fishman Triple Pay wireess guitar-to-MIDI converter, and will likely instal it myself.  Tuners and external gear are not a problem, but I can't solder worth a damn any more.

Yesm it's risky.  In theory it takes 23 years to re-learn, and I'm an old man, but YOLO you know.  I can still pure-compose music, I've put out 2 tracks in the past 2 weeks without using my MIDI keyboard, which is uninstalled right now.

Sometimes, you just have to bite the damn bullet and go for it.  I'm tired of playing it safe!

A Fine Whine, #1

Today, I'm going to whine! Run away!

Ive finished rebuilding my studio and have installed 99% of my synths, effects, and sound libraries.

All but one, that is - Heavyocity "Natural Forces".

First, the site is a nightmare to naicate.. links take you unexpected places.  Nerely an annoyance.

Second, and this is a showstopper:there's no way to re-down your product, no way to request re-activation, nothing!  You have to contact tech support! What the eff?!?!?!

If they respond uick and get me set up, I'll just be annoyed.  Natie Instruments is kind of slow.

If I get the run-round, or ignored, I'll take my business elsewhere and post on KR Audio a warning to beware the company.

Funny how my Engine 2 multi-hundred dollar products re-authorized in less than 5 minutes each.. I know where I'll be spending my money now..

Reconstruction Era

After weeks of buying gear, saving up, buying MORE gear, and rearranging furniture my art studio is complete!

Music laptop, MIDI controller, studio LED lights, a Blue Black iCE mic, boom arm, and pop filter.  All of which somehow fits on a mid-sized table shoved into a closet (lol)!  Once I figure out how to, I'll take some pics and put up a Studio Images page.

This weekend I begin transferring licenses to the new machine.  Some will be easy, others, well, not so much.I should have enough running by Monday to start recording again, and then I'll nickle and dime things until I'm settled in.

Hopefully I won't need to change things for years.  This laptop is literally 3 times faster than my old studio machine, which was more than fast enough to handle heay VST and VSTi.

More as it happens!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee'reeeeeeee Baaaaaaaaaack!

Yes, despite 5 months of unemployment with no income but selling my belongings, I now have an extremely stable contract and I'm rebuilding my studio, only stronger and better!

I have a pile of videos using my music as soundtracks, and I will put up a page of links that I will update as more are created.  I might even create my own re-scoring of public-domain movies (Plan 9 is nowpublic domain, yaa hoo).

I have almost ll the hardware I need and this Payday I will purchase the last of it.  This weekend I should comlete moing most of my DAW software, loops, and plugins to the new music machine, so as soon as the mic and table lamps arrie I can go back into full production mode.

I've re-purchased all my critical plugins and picked up a few more, suited to cinematic tracks and more ambient typle libraries.  So I should be good to go.

Lets get the party started!
